Lagos city in pictures

  Lagos is a port city and the most populous city in Nigeria. It is the commercial capital of Nigeria. Officially, the population of Lagos was last recorded at 7,937,932 in 2006 national census. Lagos is the second fastest growing city in Africa and the seventh fastest in the world.
Lagos is a metropolitan area which originated on islands separated by creeks, such as Lagos Island, fringing the southwest mouth of Lagos Lagoon while protected from the Atlantic Ocean by long Sand spit such as Bar Beach, which stretch up to 100 km east and west of the mouth. From the beginning, Lagos has expanded on the mainland west of the lagoon and the conurbation, including Ikeja and Agege, now reaches more than 40 km north-west of Lagos Island. Some suburbs include Ikorodu, Epe and Badagry and more local councils have recently been created.

Abuja city in pictures

Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria. It is located North central Nigeria, within (FCT). Abuja is a planned city, and was built mainly in the 1980s. It officially became Nigeria's capital on 12 December 1991, replacing Lagos, which is still the country's most populous city. At the 2006 census, the city of Abuja had a population of 776,298, making it one of the top ten most populous cities in Nigeria. However, Abuja has witnessed a huge influx of people into the city which has led to the emergence of satellite towns such as Karu ubarn area, Sulega, Gwagwalada, Lugbe, Kuje and smaller settlements to which the planned city is sprawling towards, the unofficial metropolitan area of Abuja is well over three million. According to Dermographia, the population of Abuja's Urban Area as of 2012 is 2,245,000, making it the fourth largest urban area in Nigeria only suppassed by Lagos,Kano and Ibadan. while Port Harcourt's urban area which is projected to be almost 2,000,000 is the fifth most populous urban area in Nigeria.
