Calabar is t capital of Cross Rivers State South South Nigeria. It is nicknamed Canaan city. It was the first capital of the federal republic of Nigeria. The original name for Calabar was Atakpa, from the Jukun Language. The city is watered by the Calabar and Kwa Rivers and creeks of the Cross Rivers from its inland delta. It has an area of 406 km² and a population of 371,022 at the 2006 census

Enugu is the capital of Enugu State South East Nigeria. The city has a population of 722,664 according to the 2006 Nigerian census. The name Enugu is derived from the two Igbo words Énú Ụ́gwụ́ meaning "hill top" denoting the city's hilly geography. The city was named after Enugwu Ngwo which coal was found under.
